What is going on here?!

Kind of sad that the last post I did was when Ashtyn turned one. She will be two in literally a month and a half. Time is flying!! We had a wonderful summer but definitely missed having dad come to Hawaii too. Hopefully next year he can make the trip….or he WILL make the trip or else;) Maya loved the beach and the pool, laying on a surfboard, playing at local playgrounds, and riding a double decker bus. Ashtyn took a week to warm up to the sand and water. However,Ashtyn loved the aquarium and embraced all the local food(I could never buy enough octopus for the kids). We also thoroughly enjoyed the shave ice….perhaps daily;)….My parents came out to Colorado for two months and it was glorious. The girls loved having popo and gung gung time and Maya was extremely sad when they left to head back to Oregon.

Maya-Getting SO BIG. She is obsessed with saying she is 38 when people ask her how old she is(it's brad's age)…I let her say it but tell her that that is how old she "likes" to be and to also tell people how old she really is…She is doing MYGYM classes and I love watching her in them. She loves to somersault, do the balance beam, and of course climb anything she can. They even do a little zipline in the class. She is still obsessed with dinosaurs and the other day I said "what dinosaur has spikes?" and she said "do you mean plates on the back? The stegosaurus has plates."..hmm this mama needs to go to the library and start studying more. My heart melts so much watching Maya interact with her lil sis. If we go somewhere she says "Baby sister, time to go!" in a very endearing way. And Ashtyn loves the attention she gets from her as well. I have been doing "mama school" with Maya and we just work through some preschool workbooks. I enjoy watching her count and understand lots of the preschool terms. I think she is going to be just fine with only one year of preK next year before she starts kindergarten. Maya really likes Umizoomi right now and I like how the show is constantly having the characters count and do patterns to solve things. She like Umizoomi so much she named our 3 goldfish milly, geo, and bot which are the characters from the show. However, we are already on geo #2 and bot #2 after about a week and a half. When Geo died, Maya saw him floating and then I heard her say"Milly!!! Stop eating Geo!!!"…circle of life explained by some goldfish….

Addy-Sweet lil baby. I can't believe she will be 2 next month. She is definitely not a baby anymore. She is constantly telling me things and using 2-3 words. It's a huge improvement because before she just labeled things. I love how she remembers what happens during our day and tries to tell dad when he gets home. She literally says "poop! grass!" almost every day. It's from the one time I freaked out and saw dog poop on our front lawn(btw we don't own a dog). She feels the need to tell everyone about that upsetting incident. She loves being outdoors and always wants to be pushed on her little tricycle. She tries to keep up with the big kids a lot and ends up with skinned knees. That is the worse thing to see when your lil one is running and just falls so hard. Poor kiddo! Ash is still in her crib. For awhile after Hawaii I was debating on transitioning her out of it, but the crib just makes things so easy. She doesn't seem to complain now and knows the routine. She still has her pacifier and I dread the day we commit to taking it away from her. Can I make Brad be in charge of doing that?! Even when we run errands I will make her leave it in the car and sometimes in the store we will have major breakdowns because "buggy" isn't around. She calls Maya "Mai Mai" and "sissy"…Her little voice is so cute. She is a huge animal lover and her favorite show is "Go Diego Go". Diego always pauses and asks questions and it's so funny to hear her answer the questions. She really listens to what the animals do and what they eat and where they live. She loves cuddling and having us read books to her. It's one of my favorite things.

Hope this lil update is enough to last another whole year:) jk..hopefully I'll be better with posting on the blog. For pics just find me on instagram(cvering) because that's where I like to put pics of the kiddos instead of Facebook so much.

Birthday girl

Addy actually is one now!! She  is such a sweet baby:)  I love watching her explore and  hearing her giggle all the time. It is so easy to make her smile and laugh..she isn't too cuddly though and is always wanting to crawl and follow her sis around. This kiddo does not says no to food and loves berries, meat, banana pancakes, cheese, etc. She is  getting some  big teeth in  and already has  10 teeth....looking forward to watching her grow more this next year and  start walking and talking:)
This is how the party started..

 Three princesses

Maya took a bite of cupcake as this pic was snapped

 Much happier..

Maya has been running and jumping and twirling nonstop so she definitely has been feeling better:) It has been so nice going to the parks again and even addy enjoys digging in the sand.

Went out to celebrate 5 years! It was funny though because we had reservations at 6:30 and then we were home by 8:15...I guess u could say I was scarfing my food down very romantically since I usually eat with the kids at 5pm...then  the dim lights made me want to go to sleep...so no time for after dinner drinks:)..maybe next time we will do a brunch instead and I'll be more lively..poor brad

Both kids woke up when we got home..of course..

And my two lil huskers:
 Always happy

Maybe Maya is a husky..she wasn't thrilled with the outfit..

poor kiddo

I prepared Maya pretty well for having her cast cut off..I had an electric pedicure file and said it would just touch her cast but never touch her leg..she was cool with that explanation and asked me to just take her cast off now..I said the doctor actually had to:) nice try kid..
. so at the appointment she  just sat on my lap when the guy cut her cast off..then when he said look your leg is like a polar bear's when he pulled apart the cast she started crying and said  "I'm just a little girl"..then when the cast came off she started crying even more and I am pretty sure it's because  her leg didn't feel normal at all..she kept her  leg bent like the day she hurt it..the doctor came to check it out and she started shaking and said she had to go home because she was so chilly...I tried to comfort her but she wouldn't calm down..she even repeatedly told the doctor to go away and that she wanted to get out of here...I had never heard her say "go away" to anyone before..so it was another experience at the doctor's and she is still not convinced that doctors are actually super nice and just want to help her..then at home she refused to even try stand on her leg..so much for playing at the park and walking around again..it will take time for her to feel comfortable:( and she has to wear a knee brace for two weeks..poor kid has a peg leg now...

And Ashtyn loves putting her feet on my face...
Miss this big smile:

Wedding bells

What a trip! Brad and I got to go to Jackson hole to celebrate  with Elise and Warren..it was incredible! It makes me smile because even in high school I remember Stiegs saying she always felt like Jackson hole was home and that is where she ended up meeting her hubby after all these years..totally meant to be:))such a fun, beautiful, lovely  wedding and  these two lovebirds are going to  have some amazing adventures together as husband and wife:))) love these pics:

Maya and Ashtyn got to hang out with Gung Gung and Popo and they didn't even seem to miss us..but when we dropped off my parents at the  airport  and drove away maya said she felt very very sad and she missed them....poor kiddo.. She totally had tears in her eyes too..

Counting down the days until Maya's cast is off..she has managed to wear a hole in the heel of it...

And some happy pics at sushi with my parents before  they left and the park:

Her friend

Is it wrong to be creeped out when maya talks about a little girl she "sees"? I'm literally  freaking out..before bed she was tucking so called girl into bed then read her a story..later I heard maya crying and she said she couldn't reach this girl cuz the girl was on my bed....I don't like imaginary friends...not one bit...

Watch out!

This is my future warning to all..trampolines are  extremely dangerous...stupid realization I know...of course I know kids can fall off or get double bounced but maya got really hurt and  those things were not the cause..she literally jumped on the trampoline and as she came down she fell forward a bit and immediately started screaming..she kept telling me the back of her knee hurt and would not try to stand up or extend her leg straight... That happened at 10 a.m....

Drove home and put ash down for a nap.Had maya rest and she iced behind her knee..still  would not put any weight on her leg so I drove to  get her checked out..ended up waiting two hours before we even saw a nurse practitioner ....uh I would have gone to some other clinic if I had known I wouldn't even get to see a doctor...had X-rays done..found she had a fracture in her tibia and it is in the middle of her growth plate..thank goodness she is young and hopefully won't have future issues..had ash with me the whole time because I didn't realize we would be there a total of four and a half hours..ash was actually really really good for being stuck in her car seat and stroller the whole time..I did run out of diapers, snacks, and then my phone died...was freaking out....maya got  to request a treat for being so brave at the doctors and so she got a strawberry milkshake as a reward:)

Brad had a long day at work and was in cases up until 11p.m....longest day of my life...

thankfully our friend was able to get maya an appointment today and she got a pink cast on..she  kept crying and saying she was  scared and kept saying"no thank you teacher" when the guy was putting the cast on....I have the pic of her smiling because I had pulled out a surprise for her..a bag of. M &ms..but even now every time I lift her up she starts crying :(( we are going to be laying on the couch for quite a while now..she needs the cast on for a month and then will get a knee brace....

This was how I knew maya was really really hurt:
.she  didn't want a cake pop when I drove through Starbucks on the way home(I had no idea her bone was fractured!oops!)..at least I didn't drag her grocery shopping as well which was the  plan after trampoline world..I would have felt horrible later...

Ash was showing support to her sis with her one leg warmer:)

And boredom already set in and she drew on herself..yikes...

Goodbye summer...

How is it September?! Now back to the real world of not having my parents  out here  helping me with the kiddos..it is cute because maya  asks me "when r your parents coming?"..such a goof..she is really into first names at the moment too(remember testing that out as kids?)..I guess she heard my mom saying mike and so maya my lil parrot was trying to get my dad's attention so she said "mike! Mike!"..

My bestie and her fiancĂ© came out and maya was so excited to see her Aunty..in fact we even call our guest room Aunty stieg's room:))  I can't wait to head out to Jackson hole in October!!!!!!! Misssss u stiegs!!!

 Bike gang

Ash is  crawling now and getting into everything...thank goodness  maya can help me out with her baby sis!  Ash has become quite the daddy's girl and immediately reaches out for brad when she sees him..maybe it is because she always gets to share ice cream treats with him..hmmm...this kid is crazy for baths.i must say it is her favorite thing ever and she splashes and screams and goes nuts..she even pulls to standing on the bathtub..but won't try anywhere else...

We got colds over Labor Day:((( I am tired of wiping snot and being covered in it..I did take maya and ash to see the annual hot air balloon festival..such a cool sight to see..then I begged brad to take us to the night glow of the balloons and we went all the way there only to find out it was too windy and they cancelled the show..note to self..not worth it to fight the traffic getting out....yikes..

Celebrated brad's 37th birthday...another note to self..when deciding to have a birthday date night alone do not suddenly decide to invite your toddler..I literally almost called my parents to pick her up after being at the restaurant for five minutes..oops..

At night maya has been requesting to sleep in her "door house"..so she literally doesn't sleep in her bed but on the floor behind the closet door..interesting...

Potty training has been sooo much better! It really is amazing how just a few more months and things turn around..if I have maya in a pull-up she treats it like a diaper but if we r out and about and she wears underwear she totally tells me when she has to go..it is a miracle!!!:)))
Maya teaching ashtyn..

My favorite thing about  maya is  listening to her talk and hearing all the things she remembers..I  love hearing her  point of view on things and listening to her tell brad about her day...it is also nice when I don't know where something is she usually remembers and can tell me...she is also very caring and kind because I had a lil accident with a pothole and wrecked brad's tire and two rims and maya said "don't worry mama..we can get it fixed..it was just an accident"..then she told the people at ford I had broke dad's car when I drove into a "puddle"...

And r.I.p.  Myron fish
 Eight years old....

Well hopefully I will write again sooner rather than later....up next is a wedding in aspen  with just the kiddos and  myself..another fun adventure...
