big big big girl

I have been so happy that Maya has taken to sleeping in the full size bed in the guest room...She has started taking one nap a day too and will sleep a wonderful 2 hours there with just a couple reminders that if she gets out of bed she has to sleep in her "cribby"....that is enough to deter her..hahaha...It used to be our "trophy" room but I made it have just tones of pink and green and I think it is so cute now. I got these awesome totes from tjmaxx that are pink and they have the words "dream" and "live, laugh, love" on them which match the room perfectly.

summer time

We had a great day!We went to two parks and then enjoyed popsicles with our neighbors...

and you definitely know it's summer time when I bring out the blue fish pool thing...

10 lbs over..

At 17 weeks these are my stats with our new little one: up 10 lbs.......

And this might be the reason why: Yesterday, I was watching a show around 7pm and the lady was eating some donuts...So I texted Brad to pick up some chocolate glazed donuts at any gas station on his way home that night. He followed directions magnificently and in about half hour I had 4 (mini size at least) delicious donuts......

I also enjoy caesar salads now(no raw egg dressing of course), dried mango slices, bagels with cream cheese, any fresh fruit, caprese, grilled cheese sandwiches with banana peppers....

Not quite the most balanced diet, don't remind me.........................

This actually happened...the second nap might be done now but as a result she is exhausted at 5pm.....

One track mind

I took Maya swimming and she was so excited until....I took off her shoes. She was not a happy camper. But, somehow I got her to the pool and thought she would be ready to play in the water and enjoy swimming like usual. Instead, she kept signing "shoes" to me and would just not let it go. So I told her we would have to leave if she wanted her shoes and she nodded yes so that was that....

When Maya wakes up from her naps she usually signs "eat" to me and cries as if I haven't fed her for days. It's her ploy to have me pick her up. Or she signs "hurt" when she wakes up so that I will hold her. Today before her nap she signed "watermelon" to me since we had that for lunch. I said "no, it is time to rest". So we went up and even as I put her in her crib she kept signing "eat" and "more"...After letting her cry it out for a bit I walked back in and what does she immediately sign to me?!.."watermelon".......she was so focused on having watermelon that she would not nap until she got to eat some. Silly girl!

We have noticed how Maya really doesn't like when other  people get close to me. Even when brad hugs me she will come over and fuss  at him and get mad.The video cut out the sound for some reason but I went to hug brad and that is why she is making the faces and in the end shakes her head no because she doesn't want him to hug me...silly girl..

I would also like to write a special note to my own mom since mother's day is today:

Lately, Maya has been gesturing to the guest room bed as her way to request to sleep there. She has woken up randomly these last two weeks(working on 3 molars) and after I change her diaper in that room, she points to the pillows and crawls up the bed and falls asleep. So I have definitely noticed her preference to be in the "big bed". Tonight, as we were walking to her room she kept pointing to the "big bed" in the guest room so I said she had to lay down and go to sleep. I am so impressed because she never got out of it and just rolled over, hugged her hippo, and has been sound asleep since. I was expecting her to roll around a ton like she does if she asks to nap in that bed. It's cute because if I tell her to lay down she will, but I will peek in and see her rolling around and goofing off when she should be napping. Then the second she sees me she lays down again and pretends to sleep. I still am hesitant to move her completely to the "big bed" just because she does nap better in her crib. However, if she keeps requesting the "big bed" I think she might be ready for it.....

and big girls understand when they need to sit in the "thinking chair" now too....

16 weeks

i feel way bigger than this photo indicates....it is bad when my clothing of choice involves no buttons...latest craving:buttery,buttery, movie theatre style popcorn...and i put syrup on my pancakes which i never usually do.....also i have felt like working out(very unlike me nowadays post vb life)...

Sentimental Sunday

I love love love our time with Maya. It will be great when she gets to be a big sister, but I kind of feel bad for her since she won't just be our only kiddo anymore...then again, I adjusted well to having a sibling( you're the best sis rissa roo!)...and I think Maya is slowly coming around to the idea of a baby. She points to my tummy now when we ask her "Where is mama's baby?" and she is gentle...then two seconds later she starts to scowl. It is funny because she thinks any kid that crawls is a "baby" and will point and sign "baby" when she sees them(even the kids that already are much bigger than her in weight and height). I will start reading books about "bringing baby home" and "being a big sis" to her soon. I think that will help with her comprehension of events to come.

We went to our neighbor's kiddo's bday party yesterday. He turned 4 and his mom said he REALLY wanted to invite Maya. So, she got to be one of the 4 kiddos he got to invite. It was so sweet of him to think of her. She does love playing over at their house and gets so excited when they come over. I enjoyed watching her follow the big kids around, sit at the table and eat cake(with me hovering), and just play with the other kids. It was good seeing her be social. Lately, at the park she likes to do a warning yell at some of the other kids then make a grumpy face if they get too close to her. Yikes....

I am really enjoying this 17 month stage because she imitates everything. Hence, the workout video previously posted. We also got her to do pushups but she wanted to be goofy when I tried to tape it. She also comprehends a ton and follows directions really well. Today she helped me make muffins and was busy mixing the batter. I love my little helper.

so since our trip,all three of us have been super sick..and i blame it on the airport and germy airplane...next time i will wear clorox wipe gloves and wipe maya down every five min..i am just surprised brad caught the cold too...our niece actually called monday morning and told us she had strep..i finally took maya in and she came back negative for that..phewww...so  we are laying low and recovering for now...thank goodness it is Friday!!
